What CF movements do you like? Big fan of deadlifts and dubs! I was VERY bad at dubs when I started, yet VERY determined to learn. It took weeks and weeks of after class practice. When I do them now, I remember the sense of pride that followed when I finally got them!
How did you find CF? A friend of mine talked me into a one month Groupon deal. I was adamant that I would only do the month. 6 years later..
What was your first workout? We started around the holidays and the first workout I remember was “The 12 nights of Christmas”. I couldn’t walk for days!
What’s your favorite thing about CF? The community. There will be times in your life where fitness is not a top priority. If you’re busy at work, planning a wedding, starting a new job, buying a house, working towards your masters, or doing all that at once your friends at CFMC will be there to support you. There’s no judgement if you can’t be there everyday. They just want to know you’ll be back!
What’s on your CF bucket list? A lot of the gymnastics moves! They don’t come naturally to me. I need dedicate the time to improve on them!
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
- Don’t compare yourself to the people around you.
- On the days where you “just can’t”, “just go”. Showing up is better than nothing.
- Find an accountability buddy. Mine is my husband who started at CFMC 2 years ago!
- KEEP COMING BACK. BE CONSISTENT.
